Union Bank of India Introduces ATM for Differently-Abled

The Union Bank of India is the first bank in India, who has inaugurated an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This ATM is specifically designed for visually challenged people. The Blind people association (BPA), Ahmedabad was well introduced to the functioning of the machine.

The ATM has headphones attached for the users to hear the steps, required to execute the whole process. For the safety and security of the customer‘s account, its details are not displayed on the screen. This is to ensure the customer that no other person can see their transaction details. This vital step in Ahmedabad, where more than 20,000 citizens suffer from blindness is a benchmark. There are ATM’s specifically for wheelchair-bound persons as well.
